JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Software Engineer is responsible for:

  • Developing and tuning exceptionally high-speed and high-volume applications. (Current applications process over 1 billion transactions per month with 99.999% uptime)
  • Build in-house tools to analyze and optimize production systems.
  • Enhance categorization and yield algorithms.

REQUIRED SKILL SET & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS (MS preferred) in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, Cognitive Science, Computational Linguistics
  • Strong Java skills (not just J2EE skills).
  • Knowledge about language features (e.g., abstract class vs. interface, generic types, trade-offs when making choices within the language).
  • Strong data structure skills including implementation.
  • Must understand trade-offs between choosing one over the other.
  • Must be able to walk through choice of data structures for a real-life problem.
  • Good algorithm skills. Must know searching/sorting algorithms and able to analyse complexity.
  • Must be able to choose algorithms for a real-life problem.
  • Experience in a high-performance computing job, whether it involved high traffic, or low latency, or high throughput, or focus on resource usage, etc.
  • Knowledge of technologies like Ant/Maven/make, JUnit, any source control system (e.g., CVS, SVN, ClearCase, Perforce), any bug tracking system (e.g., Mantis, BugZilla, TestTrack), log4j, etc.

Product Manager, Ad Serving Platforms

LucidMedia is seeking a creative and entrepreneurial Product Manager for our ad serving platform to help shape our interactive media future offerings. This is a ground floor opportunity as we build out our Marketing and Product Management team in preparation for rapid growth. The Product Manager position requires an aggressive, energetic, experienced, detail oriented self-starter with a track record of managing complex online products and increasing levels of responsibility. The ideal candidate should be passionate about creating high-quality, user friendly products that are competitive and exceed the expectations of the industry. To be considered, candidates must have experience developing and managing product requirements, a basic understanding of ad serving technologies, and a general knowledge of the ad network industry.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Research - Understand the ad serving, interactive media and online ad industry to define competitive and complete product requirements.
  • Define - Create and maintain product market requirements documentation and drive technical specifications within the engineering teams.
  • Compete - Define and monitor the industry landscape to maintain a competitive matrix that is complete and up-to-date.
  • Communicate - Act as the central repository and key communicator for all the product features and benefits, schedules, interdependencies and delivery dates.
  • Manage - Bridge business development, marketing, public relations and engineering in defining the feature set, business cases, and product roadmap.
  • Launch, Develop, socialize and own product and feature release schedules by liaising with business development, marketing, public relations and engineering.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Experienced - The qualified candidate will be a seasoned product management professional from the ad network, ad serving or ad management industry with a minimum of 3 years direct product management experience with a software company delivering online, ad serving and ad management solutions.
  • Technical - Qualified candidates will have a technical background, experience with ad servers such as DART or Atlas, a proven knowledge of the product management process, and a general knowledge of current internet technologies such as Java and J2EE.
  • Strategic - The optimum candidate will be an out-of-the-box thinker and technical strategist willing to define their own processes and introduce new ideas while driving them across a fast moving organization.

Education:

  • At least a Bachelors degree is required.
  • A Masters degree, MBA or certification in formal product management practices such as the Pragmatic Marketing, Inc. program is highly desirable.

As a Taxonomy Editor, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide technical direction to enterprise content initiatives
  • Assist in the development of new taxonomy structures and control vocabularies, ensuring they meet general taxonomy guidelines
  • Implement and oversee taxonomy governance processes
  • Create and maintain processes to synchronize systems to support content workflow and publishing of content to various Web properties
  • Support the seamless integration of the content management system with other disparate systems
  • Research and identify or develop new products, platforms, tools, and processes to enhance current services or to deliver new services
  • Provide support to users, including resolution of conflicts between business areas
  • Tracking and resolving taxonomy management issues
  • Coordinate with publishers to organize website materials per assigned unit needs; identifies those to have security access, necessary programming needs, and those responsible for various aspects of web creation, maintenance, etc. Assigns access rights to web content to restrict access to specific users
  • Coordinate and facilitate the publishing activities regarding design, creation, and production of the web site
  • Organizes and maintains the content infrastructure of a web site

Minimum Educational Requirements
Bachelor Degree in Liberal Arts (e.g., Linguistics, Philosophy, English, History, or related fields), Bachelor Degree in Library Science or Information Science.
